Classes

Our classes are always running, please contact us if you are interested.

Beginning Qi Gong Class

The Fundamental Eight Minute Drill is the earth drill. It is the Qi Gong drill taught to all Wei Tuo students. It is called the Fundamental Eight Minute Drill because it is the base drill that “covers all the bases” to stay healthy, it flows into the other drills, and to get benefit from it usually takes at least 8 minutes to practice. However, the longer the practice, the better.

Intermediate Qi Gong/Beginning Meditation

Each season a new drill is taught following the philosophy of the Five Elements.

The Eagle Drill is taught during fall, the Dragon Drill comes next is the winter drill, the Crane Drill is next during spring, and the Tiger Drill is taught during the summer. At the end of each class, we practice quiet sitting Meditation for 10-15 minutes. I teach further into the philosophy of the Dao, yin-yang, Qi Gong, Five Elements and how they all relate to each other. Learning Qi Gong can be complicated, especially to Westerners because it is not in our culture. So, there is no rush.

Advanced Meditation

This is an on going Qi Gong and Meditation class. It is important to have already studied the Beginning and Advanced Wei Tuo Qi Gong forms. The structure of the teaching is fairly open. Jonathan leads the class, but if a student has something to say, the class becomes a discussion for everyone to learn from everyone else.

Beginning Wu Gong

Tai Chi and Kung Fu are both martial arts, but the art to the movements are very different, yet the basics are very similar in many ways, therefore Jonathan has combined the two classes into one. Here the basic stances, stretches, terminology, strength, and basic punches and kick are taught. After Jonathan and the student has agreed that his or her skills are good enough may he or she go to the next class.

Tai Chi for Seniors

This class is taught for seniors who are interested in Tai Chi. The class is taught “softly”. This means that the martial art emphasis is lessened for a soft practice of Tai Chi.

Tai Chi

Our Tai Chi class is taught with martial arts in mind. It is also taught with an emphasis on Qi. The martial art side to the practice heightens awareness, strength, eyesight etc… Classes start with stretches and standing Meditation. Then students practice “laps”. This is the time students spend time working on a movement going back and forth in the classroom. At the end, we practice the sets. The more laps students practice, the better they get at it.

Kung Fu

Kung Fu is a very active class. There are lots of punches: punches with weights in the hands, punches to blow out candles, punching, punching and more. There are high, medium, and low kicks. Also, like in the Tai Chi class, there will be “laps” to do. After confidence has been made in movements, weapons will be introduced. But at the end, it is all about how to use Qi.

Kids Kung Fu

This class is devoted to 14 and under. If a student who should be in this class yet shows to be quite mature, then he or she would be allowed into the regular Kung Fu class.
