Water
In Chapter 78 of the Dao De Jing, Lao Zi wrote:
“Nothing under heaven is softer and weaker than water.
But against the solid and strong nothing is stronger.”
Bruce Lee is famous for "Be like water, my friend."
Water creates as well as destroys. It created the Grand Canyon and it prevents the Hawaiian Islands from growing too tall. It is the source of life, and it is a source of death with either too much water or too little water. And, when we are born, we are about 80% water. Besides air, it is truly the most valuable thing on the planet for life. Water is indeed a beautiful thing.
Tai Ji Quan is said to have been created by the shores of the Yangtze River of China. It is the 'long river' that is ever flowing. The map shows the course of the Yangtze River, it is one of the longest rivers in the world.
The movements of Tai Ji Quan are the same, ever flowing. It is also ever changing, finding the least or weakest spot (on the opponent), and flowing through it. It moves ceaselessly like qi.
