Intermediate Qi Gong: Dragon Drill
The Dragon Drill belongs to the water element. So the Dragon is mainly focused on the kidneys and the urinary bladder. It is best to face north. And from the twists that are in it, the qi can enter the kidney channel and travel to the digestive system as it focuses on the lower, middle, and upper dan tians. It also focuses on the inner meridians: chong, dai, yin wei/yang wei, and yin qiao/yang qiao. The Dragon is beneficial not only for the kidneys and the urinary bladder, but also to the heart, the gall bladder, skin conditions, and bronchitis.
Most people like the Dragon because it is the most beautiful to watch of the five. It is very circular and graceful in movement. As you practice, you will find the iron and silk or yin/yang movements being balanced. It is called the Dragon because some of hand positions resemble the claws of a dragon. It is also called “Leaping out of the Sea to Swim in the Sky”: the movements are rising and sinking, like a Chinese dragon’s movements, so pay attention to your movements.
