Classes
Classes are designed around a particular focus such as Qi Gong or Kung Fu. However, classes focus around the needs of individual students, skill level, and general interest. All classes revolve around the understanding of qi.
Ars Vitae means "art of life" in Latin. This is a class series taught by Suzanne Polous that includes collages, chinese paint brush and many more. Suzanne is an amazing artist who teaches with care to each and every student.
Kung Fu is more than fighting or self-defense. It is about a whole way of life and to "know thyself, the greatest of all victories" and "to know yourself is enlightenment": wisdom from different sages from around the world. In this process, students learn self-confidence, will power, virtue, discipline, humility, harmony in the self and in nature, and many more positive character attributes. Kung Fu classes at the Wei Tuo Academy also include philosophy, basic Traditional Chinese Medicine, meditation, nutrition, and other useful knowledge that will take a person far in life.
Meditation is more than sitting down and relaxing to music. In fact, at the Wei Tuo Academy when we meditate, we meditate in silence. We learn about our own minds by learning to be one with it. The mind can be ‘wild’ at times. We learn to control that wildness for the mind to work for us instead of against us. Too many people feel that they cannot meditate because they cannot focus. That is the case for everyone, even the greatest meditation masters started with a wild mind that they learned to control.
We also have the option of individual or personalized classes for those who are interested. Times begin at 10 on Monday and Wednesday and after 11 on Tuesday and Thursday. Please call or email to make an appointment.
Qi Gong is the practice of direct focus on the flow of qi or life energy. It is designed to maintain and improve health both physically and mentally. It strengthens the body's immune system; helps regulate digestion and much more. It teaches us to be strong without strain, relaxed with ease, and even helps with martial arts! It is great for everyone of all ages. No matter a person's age, there will be some imbalances, and Qi Gong is the way back to balance!
Tai Chi is more than an exercise to relax and find balance. As part of the training, we learn to control the mind and body and learn the connections between the two.
