The Science and Definition of TCM and the Principles of Wei Tuo Mi Zi Fa
Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 7:00 PM
The objectives of the course are threefold:
(l) Students will learn about the evolution of Traditional Chinese Medicine with an emphasis on the Ba Gua and its relationship to our understanding of the Brain and the acquisition of knowledge.
(2) Students will learn about “Rice Diagram” “Mi Zi Fa” “米字发”, an ancient practice of acupuncture techniques that have been developed and transmitted by the Wei Tuo lineage.
(3) Students will learn about reducing stress and acknowledging the individual’s responsibility for one’s own health.
This course will provide acupuncturists with an historical background that will relate traditional concepts with brain research. It will also teach a very practical and useful acupuncture theory and technique developed historically in China though the Wei Tuo lineage. Acupuncturists in California will be able to integrate this information with their current practice. Finally, it will provide a context for an exploration of the heart/mind and self cultivation on the value of life that will be helpful to the acupuncturists themselves as well as to their clients.
The course is open to the general public. Non-professionals will gain a rich knowledge and learn some techniques though the “Rice Diagram” that can be applied by acupressure.
